The benefits of interdisciplinary conferences

There are plenty of professional bodies around the world that represent so many different professions and professional groups. One of these is a group known as i-Fab. They are the International Foot and Ankle Biomechanics group that is a multidisciplinary organization of professionals who have an interest in foot and ankle biomechanics. They're consisting of academics, physicians, podiatry practitioners, orthopaedic physicians, engineers, physiotherapists and other health professionals, footwear industry individuals, insole/orthotic suppliers, surgical products makers and associated markets. They are an incredibly assorted association. The association aims to produce information on the worldwide activities linked to foot and ankle biomechanics. They link those who find themselves getting work done in the foot and ankle biomechanics area irrespective of their whereabouts and discipline they may be from. Additionally they would like to facilitate debate on key issues of interest for the global group and make coordinated community wide activities. Most of all they are endeavoring to produce a profile to have an global critical mass of research actions that are linked to foot and ankle biomechanics.

To this end one of their main activities is an international seminar that is held every 2 yrs. This conference moves around the world and it has been held by a number of different countries. The 2018 iFab meeting was held in New York City in the USA. An episode of PodChatLive was about a commentary on that conference. PodChatLive is a monthly livestream for podiatry practitioners and after the conference the hosts had a chat of a lot of the relevant and fascinating papers which were presented at the conference. This chat was live on Facebook. It was later published to YouTube and delivered as a podcast version accessible form the majority of the podcast services. It was an interesting strategy taken by the hosts to evaluate a convention, because they typically have a different guest on each week to talk about a topic. It's not known if they're going to attempt to review the 2020 conference.
